THE TREE OF LIFE SATISFYING ALL NEEDS

The Coconut Palm is a tree breathing positive energy. It’s been said that Coconut Palm has magical and healing powers. In Sanskrit, Coconut Tree means “the tree which provides all the necessities of life “(kalpa vriksha) and the tree is called Tree of Life in the Philippines.

The Coconut Palm grows over 20 m (65 ft), often up to 30 m (98 ft) high. Being particularly useful from the root to the top, almost all of its parts can be utilized. The coconuts provide delicious and healthy food ingredients. The hard part of the shell is used, for example, to make musical instruments, stylish buttons and ornaments and the flowers are used to make alcoholic beverages. The wood and the leaves are used as construction materials and the fibers of the bark can be utilized to make carpets and ropes. Even the root has uses – in medicine.

THE FLOWERS AND THE FRUITS – DRINKS FOR CEREMONIES AND EVERYDAY LIFE

The Coconut Palm blooms and bears fruit throughout the year. Growing rapidly, the tree usually gives fruit on the sixth year after planting. The Coconut tree blooms with yellowish, big, flower clusters. The sap can be derived from incising the flower clusters. The sap is then fermented to produce palm wine.

COCONUT’S GIFTS TO THE STOMACH

The fruit of the palm, coconut, is the size of a small football and oval in shape. Depending on the size, the coconut contains approximately 3 dl (10 fl. oz) of very healthy, clear coconut water. Coconut water re-hydrates and replenishes the body’s fluids fast. Containing plenty of important minerals, the coconut water is a natural isotonic beverage and the best possible sport and diarrhea-cure drink. The ph-value of coconut water is very close to the ph of human blood plasma. The layer of white fruit flesh inside can be made into coconut milk by crushing it and mixing it with warm water. The white part of the inner shell, called copra, when dried, can be manufactured to make coconut flakes and butter. The fruit flesh contains fat, protein, ferrite, zinc and phosphor. In cooking, the coconut is particularly popular in Asia.

THE TREASURE OF THE RAINFOREST

Coconut also has a magical miracle inside; it is said that, on very rare occasions, there’s a valuable white coconut pearl growing inside a coconut. This natural miracle is a powerful and highly-valued talisman, especially in Asian cultures. The pearl is believed to transfer its fortune-bringing power to one possessing it.
